What is Radio-Frequency Technology?

Radio-frequency, or RF, is the term for energy that is comprised of a very large portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. Radio-frequency energy is a stream of photons that are moving at the speed of light. RF is considered low frequency and the result, when introduced into the skin, produces a very controlled deep-heating thermal effect.

What happens during the procedure?

The Method

The Trio RF system is a radio-frequency medical technology that, when applied to the skin, therapeutically delivers a very controlled deep heating at the desired tissue depth to tighten the supporting structures on your face and body.

The unique RF technology comfortably penetrates the tissues deep down into the dermal layers where collagen fibers exist. When collagen fibers are heated to the proper temperature, the fibers and connective tissues contract and multiply, which firms and improves your body shape and appearance of your skin. Localized blood circulation improves, and retained fluids drain to help minimize edema and erythema, improving contour.

Comfort & Safety

The procedure is virtually painless since it involves no surgery or ablative laser. Most patients describe the treatment as a comfortable warming sensation on the skin. The operator will slowly heat the surface of the skin to the proper temperature and will continually monitor the skin surface temperature to ensure both comfort and efficacy. 

Epidermal Cooling

The TRIO RF system uses a contact-cooling handpiece that increases the cooling effect for the face. This makes the sensitive facial treatments much more comfortable and effective.

Bi-Polar Technology

Bi-polar technology is the most advanced for this type of procedure. Bi-Polar RF energy is much more controlled than older modes of RF energy, which use higher,less-controlled energy. More control means less discomfort and more effective results.

How long is the program?

The program time depends on the desired outcome by the patient, and the necessary length of the program will vary from person to person. Most procedures involve 3-5 treatments. Each treatment takes about 30 minutes.

Is the treatment uncomfortable?

The TRIO RF system that we use in this office employs a unique bi-polar RF technology that will direct comfortable therapeutic heat to the deep layers of the skin in a very controlled, warming fashion. Other RF technologies have been described as very hot and uncomfortable.

When will I see results?

You should see measurable results immediately following each treatment. Since collagen will continue to rebuild, and the volume of the collagen fibers will also increase, results will continue to improve for 10 weeks post treatments. Each treatment result is cumulative and long-lasting.
